Ade Marup Wirasenjaya is a lecturer and writer at the Department of International Relations, University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. He completed his doctorate from UGM with a dissertation “The Making of Ecological Sovereignty: How Transnational Managerial Class Reconstruct Sovereignty Ideas in Indonesia?”. Wirasenjaya delves into the issues of transnational social movements, politics of development and Southeast Asian studies.He writes essays and opinions in mass media and several articles and working papers. He has written several books and book chapters, including: State, Market and the Labyrinth of Democracy (2014), Democracy in Post-New Order Indonesia: An Agenda for Deepening (2022), Neo-developmentalism and Indonesoia’s Human Right Problem (2021), The Transnationalism of Democracy and Power Multiplicity in Indonesia: a Critical Analysis (2024)”. Currently, he is the Head of the Center for ASEAN Studies UMY.
